Dear Marlborough, Public Schools Parents and Guardians:

 

On June 23, 2023, the Marlborough School committee approved an updated Homework Policy. The policy can be found by clicking this link.

 

We are hoping this policy will explicitly address any remaining confusion regarding homework in the Marlborough Schools. I reviewed this policy with all staff at the beginning of the school year, and all staff received a copy of the policy.

 

Homework may be assigned on a regular basis in Marlborough, but there is not a specific amount of homework that must be assigned each night. Teachers will assign homework when their class lesson requires additional practice. Although some teachers may assign a novel or an independent reading or writing activity, we ask all families to partner with the schools by having students independently read and practice math facts at home. Classroom teachers, especially elementary teachers, can send home books and home-made flashcards to support this partnership.
