    Dear Marlborough School Community Member,

This afternoon, Marlborough Public Schools was made aware of the arrest of a former district bus driver. The driver was employed by the District's contracted transportation provider, NRT, and was not an MPS employee. The individual drove routes within MPS from 2018 to 2022, having passed all required state and company background screenings.

The allegations are deeply concerning. However, there is no indication at this time that the allegations involve any child, staff member, or faculty member within MPS.

We will fully cooperate with local and regional law enforcement throughout the investigation. If you believe you have information to share, please contact me directly so we can connect you with investigators.

MPS administration regularly meets and with NRT to review company and district hiring policies and procedures. Our priority is the safety our students. NRT's employees must also meet the Marlborough Schools background check requirements.

News reports on topics such as these can be troubling, especially to children. We know these conversations can be difficult. We encourage you to support your child and answer any questions in an age-appropriate manner. Resources will be available to all employees and students who wish them.

We are making every attempt to obtain further information at this time, and will update you if and when we are able.

    Mary Murphy
