  • Art in Action visits

Did you know that March is Youth Art Month?  Y.A.M is an annual, national observance each March to emphasize the value of art education for all students. The Arts (visual art, music, theater arts, digital arts and writing) contribute to an overall culture of respect and diversified learning in schools and communities.  They are an effective way of connecting children to peers, helping children cope with personal and social issues as well as helping them to understand the creators who precede them.  Works of art, music and literature provide an effective means for linking information in history, social studies, math, science and geography. The arts provide schools with an exciting, accessible way to cross into core curricular areas and show children the relationship the arts have in the world around them.

Since March is a very busy month at Kane, I am hosting this event the fourth week of April.  Invitations to your child's individual art class will be arriving home shortly.  Hope to see you in the art room!

  • Middlesex Sherrif's Office   Youth Public Safety Academy is open!

Each summer, the Middlesex Sheriff's Office sponsors the Youth Public Safety Academy (YPSA) for 8-12 year-olds from communities across the county. YPSA is a week-long camp designed to expose our youngest citizens to role models in public safety – namely sheriff’s officers, and their local police, fire, emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, as well as to teach them valuable life and safety lessons.

There are still spots open in select cities and towns for the Middlesex Sheriff's Office Youth Public Safety Academy! Click here to see the flier!
