Welcome to the Marlborough Public Schools Curriculum Web page. The goal is to make this page useful to families and the entire community in becoming more informed about the district’s priorities for our students’ educational experiences.
Below, please find our preK-8 curriculum guides. These guides are broken down by grade level and then by content and include units of study that are based on both local and national standards as well as informed by 21st Century habits of mind that we hope to embed in our learners on their way to becoming college and career ready.
Units of study for grades 9-12 will be published when available as work to align curricular areas to the Common Core has been ongoing during the 2012-2013 school year and are ongoing. Much work has been accomplished thus far and we look forward to sharing the units currently under construction as they approach near completion.
In addition, our work with our Health/Wellness, Music, Visual Arts, Instructional Technology and World Language teams continues to evolve. These units will be posted as they are refined.
This work represents a great deal of collaborative dialogue and development on the part of curriculum leadership teams who formed out of our schools; these classroom practitioners have led the charge of aligning, leading and representing the collective thoughts of their colleagues. Without the tireless efforts of these professionals, this work would not be possible.
As you review the key knowledge and skills with which your children will be working over the course of the year in each discreet content area, please keep in mind that these units are still under construction and therefore reflect some areas of incompleteness. Our teams continue to build and enhance these units and they will be updated on this site periodically.
Marlborough Public Schools Curriculum Accommodation Plan
Massachusetts General Laws require the adoption and implementation of a District Curriculum Accommodation Plan (DCAP). This plan is intended to guide principals and teachers in ensuring that all possible efforts are made to meet student needs in general education classrooms and to support teachers in analyzing and accommodating the wide range of student learning styles and needs that exist in any school.
By describing in a document the accommodations, instructional supports and strategies that are available in general education, and the process for determining effective interventions for struggling learners, it is hoped that this DCAP will help support diverse learners in our schools.
