What’s the funniest thing a student has ever said to you?

The funniest thing I can think of is when a student called me “mom” when they wanted to ask me something.

Share a memory of your own elementary school years.

When I was in second grade, Mrs. Daniels my 2nd grade teacher placed me in one of the top reading groups which really boosted my self-confidence and love for reading. She was one of the best elementary teachers because she knew how to recognize student’s potentials.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My day starts with the morning bus duty. After my duty I get prepared to begin working with students who need additional reading support within a small group setting. I usually have 20 -25 students on my caseload and provide reading instruction to 6 groups of students throughout the day.

What’s your favorite thing about Richer School?

I really like Richer PTO. Over the years the parents involved with the Richer PTO have been so generous with providing cultural arts programs, giving books to teachers during the book fair events, and providing fantastic luncheons to show their appreciation to the Richer teachers.

What is your favorite quote?

“Reading is rocket science.”

I love all the Dr. Seuss books
