The STEMbassadors program provides juniors and seniors who have previously participated in the ninth- and/or tenth-grade STEM program with an opportunity to further their involvement in key areas of leadership, marketing and development.
STEMbassadors are formally trained as peer mentors and receive mentee assignments.
STEMbassadors support STEM underclassmen in the form of tutoring in core content areas and project-based learning experiences. STEMbassadors assist in the design, planning and execution of key events such as project days and the STEM Expo. STEMbassadors play a key role in showcasing the program to visiting teams from fellow school districts and professional organizations/businesses.
For example, at the 2015 STEM Expo, 140 freshmen & sophomores presented exhibits, and STEM upperclassmen were tapped as student ambassadors for the industry professionals who attended. The STEM upperclassmen showed the professionals around, talked about the program, and introduced them to the STEM Expo participants.
STEMbassadors can earn two elective credits each year for this experience.
