     Superintendent Michael Bergeron

    July 1, 2018

I am thrilled to begin my tenure as your Superintendent of Schools. I'm excited to be in this role and to be able to expand on the many good things happening in this district that I experienced while serving most recently as your assistant superintendent and before that as the district's executive director of finance and operations.

I would be remiss if I did not extend heartfelt appreciation to outgoing Superintendent Maureen Greulich for her guidance and mentorship as we worked together for years. Maureen exemplified what I want to be in a leader: someone who built a culture of trust and accountability and treated everyone with respect, but remained humble and hungry to learn every day. Maureen - you have set the standard for me and I want to thank you for setting the example for all of us here in Marlborough.

The Marlborough Public Schools is an exciting place to work. Our community of educators is dedicated to learning. Just as an example, a few days ago I was excited to see more than 75 members of our Whitcomb staff spending time, on their summer break, to learn about a project-based learning event to happen in October. As Lt. Governor Karen Polito addressed the crowd of educators and thanked them for continuing to push forward with their training, I could feel an intense pride to be working in Marlborough. This is a special place to be.

This year, we will embark on the construction and operational planning for a new elementary school. The task will impact families across the district, so we must tread carefully and with the utmost respect for all involved - students, staff, families, and the community. I look forward to beginning that process toward the transformational outcome that this new construction can have on our entire educational program.

I want to thank everyone for welcoming me into Marlborough four and a half years ago, and for making me a part of your community. I am proud to say Marlborough is my home, and my commitment is to work every day to exceed your expectations.

    Sincerely,

    Michael Bergeron
