• School Building Project Status and Updates

In the spring of 2016 the district submitted a statement of interest to the Massachusetts School Business Authority (MSBA) for the Richer Elementary School. In January of 2016 the MSBA moved Marlborough into the eligibility phase. In March of 2016 the City Council approved one million dollars to hire an owner's project manager (OPM) and a design firm. In July of 2016 the MSBA moved the City from the eligibility phase to the feasibiliy study. As part of the feasibility study the Building Committee has contracted with Daedalus Projects Inc. of Boston to be the owner's project manager and Lamoureux Pagano Achitects as the design firm.  Below is a graphic from the MSBA website to show where we currenty are in the building process.

From the MSBA Feasibility Guidelines; here is a description of the Preliminary Design Program:

“The purpose of the Preliminary Design Program is to define the programmatic, functional, spatial, and environmental requirements of the educational facility necessary to meet the District’s educational program, and perform the review and investigation required to clearly define the existing building deficiencies. Based upon a review of the District’s educational program, the Designer will identify and prepare in written and graphic form for review, clarification, and agreement regarding the educational goals and programmatic space needs for the subject school. The space needs along with an evaluation of existing conditions and site development requirements will form the basis of the Designer’s recommendation for an evaluation of alternatives upon which the most educationally appropriate and cost effective solution may be recommended.”
