Retirement Information

Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System (MTRS): Retirement information for certified educators: https://mtrs.state.ma.us/

Marlborough City Retirement: Full-time employees working at least 1040 hours per year, who are not employed as certified educators, must participate in City Retirement through the Marlborough City Retirement Board. Part-time Employee Benefits

Bencor: This is Only for part-time employees. This is FICA Alternative Plan provides an individual investment plan for part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees. Contributions to the plan are deducted from each employee’s wages and are income tax-deferred and invested in accordance with each employee’s direction. 

Disability Insurance

AFLAC: Aflac provides supplemental insurance to help pay out-of-pocket expenses your major medical insurance doesn't cover. Contact AFLAC through the links below to ask questions on policy information or pricing; review your current coverage; or to enroll in new coverage.

Additional Voluntary Benefits

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): Flexible Spending Accounts let you set aside a portion of your paycheck tax free to pay for certain health and dependent care expenses. Contributions are deducted from your paycheck prior to federal, state, and social security taxes being computed. Because you don’t pay taxes on your contributions, you save money. The annual FSA plan administration fee is $60.00 for the year/$5.00 per month. For more information, you can call 1-800-544-2340. 

Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Available to employees, their dependents and household members, free of charge. Confidential counseling and referrals, training, financial and legal advice are offered. The contact information can be found on the flyer below. 

403(b): 403b Retirement Savings Plans are managed by TSA Consulting Group and are open to school employees on a rolling basis. These benefits are 100% Employee Funded, optional, and self-managed. Enrollment is directly through the companies and payroll deductions can be taken from MPS. For more information, visit their website at https://www.tsacg.com/.

Employees who participate in retirement plans in addition to a 403(b) should consult a tax professional regarding maximum combined plan contribution limits set by the IRS to avoid penalties for exceeding overall limits. This includes, but is not limited to, contributions to Marlborough City Retirement, Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System, or other personal investment accounts for retirement savings outside MPS.
