The management and control of the public schools of the City of Marlborough shall be vested in the Marlborough School Committee. The School Committee derives its power for general charge of all the city’s public schools from Chapter 71, Section 37 of the General Laws, Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The General Court made its general grant of power in 1826 to local communities and the Committee operates under this grant and local policy determination, and subsequently voted statutory rights and obligations.
