Congratulations to all Whitcomb Middle School grade 8 students who were honored at this year’s Content Awards.

This special event celebrated select students for their remarkable academic achievements and growth in science, math, world language, the arts and other content areas.

While our dedicated teachers guided these students throughout the year, it was their own determination and commitment that led to these outstanding results. We take immense pride in their journey of becoming independent and adaptable learners. Congratulations to all who received recognition!

It was a bittersweet moment as we celebrated the Marlborough Early Childhood Center Preschool Class of 2026 on June 17.

With tears, smiles and hugs, our staff and families honored this significant milestone for our young learners. Our team, equipped with tissue boxes, guided us through the students' inspiring journeys at MECC by sharing videos and photos. We witnessed our preschoolers blossoming as they made new friends, acquired new skills and embarked on exciting field trips in preparation for their transition to Kindergarten. Our littlest learners also showcased their memorization and motor skills by singing and dancing.

Most of these students will join one of our four elementary schools this fall, while others will embark on unique educational paths. Regardless of where they end up, we are confident that these soon-to-be Kindergarteners have bright futures ahead of them. Best of luck, and thank you to their families for entrusting us with their children's early education!

On Friday, we hosted our annual Unified Game Day, a district-wide event celebrating inclusion and teamwork, at Marlborough High School. Students with disabilities and their unified partners tested their skills in various games and activities, including shot put and long jump.

From running events to cheering on our unified athletes, we loved seeing our volunteers and staff in action. Because of you, our students, with and without disabilities, showed us how to #PlayUnified and took home not only medals but also priceless memories.

The last month of school is filled with wonderful opportunities to honor our seniors. From signing each other's yearbooks at senior breakfast to the proud moments of receiving their cords and stoles at senior award night, and the nostalgia of revisiting their elementary and middle schools during their senior walk, these experiences create lasting memories and celebrate their journey.

All these events culminate in a significant milestone for our seniors: graduation. We look forward to celebrating the remarkable Class of 2026 alongside our dedicated staff, faculty and families — whose steadfast support has guided them to this remarkable achievement — at our graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at Noble Field.

On May 29, Jaworek Elementary School proudly hosted its inaugural Inclusion Fair, where fifth grade students had the opportunity to learn about disabilities and the tools that support individuals with disabilities. From walking on crutches to navigating hallways in wheelchairs to learning sign language, our students gained invaluable insights through hands-on experience.

We are immensely proud of the Jaworek School and our district-wide special education staff and faculty members for their commitment to creating and hosting events that foster a unified district. Their dedication to embracing, celebrating and uplifting all students, both with and without disabilities, is truly inspiring!

Whitcomb Middle School held its first-ever Civics Students Showcase on May 22, and it was a truly impactful event.

Our eighth grade students impressed everyone with their passion and the preparation they put into their projects. They covered important topics that affect their peers and our community, such as substance use in adolescence, school start times and religious freedom. Our sixth and seventh graders also contributed significantly by asking insightful questions and demonstrating active listening skills.

We commend our civics team, Jacquie Carter and Caroline Cadel, for making this inaugural event a success. Their dedication is helping to prepare our students to become engaged and responsible members of our community.

Each year, students at Richer School participate in the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority's annual poster contest. The contest theme changes each year, and this year, students were encouraged to explore topics related to water and sewer systems, conservation and environmental protection.

Our very own Manny Casillas III from Ms. Bordanca's second-grade class won second place in the K-2 category. The winners of the contest were recognized at an awards reception held on Friday at the MWRA Deer Island Plant in Winthrop. All winning entries will be displayed at the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum until September 2026.

On Friday, we had an exciting adventure as some students from our Learning in Functional Environments Program visited Middlesex Savings Bank in Hudson for a tour!

Designed for individuals ages 18-22 with disabilities who haven’t received a regular high school diploma, our LIFE program aims to equip these young adults with essential life skills. During the visit, our LIFE program participants learned what a bank is, how to interact with a bank teller and even got hands-on experience using an ATM.

We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Middlesex Savings Bank to develop an engaging and accessible banking curriculum for our MHS programs. This tour was just the beginning of many exciting opportunities we have in store with them!

There are many reasons to love Whitcomb Middle School, but one standout reason is the presence of our wonderful student leaders. Starting in sixth grade, students have the opportunity to earn membership in the National Junior Honor Society. This membership is not only an honor but also a commitment to uphold the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship.

On Wednesday, we celebrated a significant milestone by inducting our newest NJHS members. We are immensely proud of these new inductees for meeting our eligibility requirements and for their pledge to continue striving to embody and promote the core principles of NJHS—values that are essential for their academic journeys and beyond.

We are also fortunate to have dedicated educators like NJHS advisors Nicole Thomas and Kelly Albino, whose support and guidance extend far beyond the classroom and help shape the leaders of tomorrow.

The Super Six graphic.
On April 2, Marlborough High School sent 41 students to the 4th Annual Metro South/West Trade and Construction Expo, bringing the total to over 600. The event remains a valuable opportunity for our students to gain career exposure, engage in hands-on learning, and network!

One standout moment was a full-circle story involving a Marlborough High School alumna from the Class of 2025, Maria. Last year, as a senior, she attended the Expo and connected with Winter Properties, a real estate company hosting a table. With support and partnership from MHS and Youth Connections, she secured a summer internship after graduation.

Since then, Maria has been interning with Winter Properties for nearly a year while taking online business administration classes at Nichols College. She’s gained hands-on experience in real estate while also working as a manager at Ulta. At this year’s Expo, we unexpectedly saw Maria again—but this time, she was behind the table representing Winter Properties and speaking with our current MHS seniors about opportunities in the field. It was a powerful example of how career exposure and networking can truly open doors for students. She is now preparing to take her real estate exam this May.

Let’s all congratulate Maria and wish her the best of luck on her test!
