Feb. 2-6 is National School Counseling Week, and we are proud to recognize and celebrate our counselors, alongside Director of Social Emotional Learning Lindsay Castro. They approach their work with compassion, professionalism and a deep commitment to what is best for students.

To celebrate the week, Richer Elementary School launched SEL Bingo, a fun, feel-good way to highlight the small yet powerful social-emotional learning moments occurring throughout the school for both students and staff. They also hosted a game of "Who's Who?" to help reintroduce their two counselors on a deeper level to the Richer staff and faculty.

Whether counselors across our district are assisting individual students, collaborating with teachers or helping families navigate challenges, their guidance, care and dedication contribute to creating welcoming learning environments. In these environments, students feel supported, encouraged and empowered to succeed. We are truly grateful for all that our counselors do!

#DYK that Marlborough High School has a Career Center? Through community partnerships, including one with Metro South/West Youth Connections, the Career Center helps students who #ChooseMHS discover job and internship opportunities, explore various careers and learn about resume writing, interviewing and online applications.

In the fall of 2025, Career Specialist Jacqueline Coyle and a select group of MHS students attended the inaugural MetroWest Youth Connections Healthcare & First Responders Career Expo at Solomon Pond Mall. They explored a wide range of healthcare roles, including different specialties, licenses and certifications. The students had the opportunity to meet local employers and learn about concrete next steps, such as internships, training programs and career pathways in the region.

"By being here, our students have been doing a great job at connecting with employers, networking, and putting themselves out there. Oftentimes, they hear so much about what happens after high school. But to really see it in person, and to see the companies, organizations and employers be just as invested in our youth as our youth are in their future, is really cool. So, I'm really proud of our students, and thanks to Youth Connections for this opportunity," said Ms. Coyle.

Check out our students' and Ms. Coyle's full video testimonies here.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Marlborough Department of Public Works and the Marlborough Public Schools maintenance team. These dedicated crews have been working tirelessly around the clock to clear roads, treat sidewalks and ensure the safety of our community. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and commitment, especially during these challenging winter conditions.

Let’s show our appreciation and finish strong together! Please take a few moments to shovel and treat your sidewalks so that students have a safe path to and from school this week, whether they are walking or waiting at a bus stop. Every minute spent can help prevent slips, falls and injuries.

Help us exemplify what it means to be #MadeInMarlborough!

The Day of Play for our elementary students in December was a wonderful event that brought together students and staff for a day filled with learning, laughter and fun. Students were invited to bring their favorite games or activities from home to share and enjoy at school. This highlighted the importance of sharing, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, creativity and emotional regulation. The play day also helped strengthen our classroom communities and support our students’ social-emotional well-being.

We would like to express our gratitude to our faculty and staff for organizing and facilitating this hands-on learning event, which ensured a smooth transition for both students and staff before the holiday break.

As winter break comes to an end, it's the perfect time to hit the refresh button and prepare for new challenges.

This week, our students began their NWEA testing, and what better way to kick things off than with an energizing pep rally? At Richer School, we launched testing week in style, boosting our students' spirits and providing them with essential test-taking strategies. They learned to dispel common myths about testing while enjoying jokes and participating in a sing-along.

Thanks to our dedicated staff, Richer School students are fully prepared to shine and give their best effort this testing week!

The first Monday in January is reserved for the City of Marlborough's inaugural exercises, which include the swearing-in of the Mayor and members of the Marlborough School Committee.

This important event for our community was proudly hosted at the Whitcomb School. The ceremony featured two Whitcomb students reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Marlborough High School band, along with the a cappella group Voices ReChoired, provided musical accompaniment.

Congratulations and best wishes to the new city council and school committee members!

The four VEX robotics teams from Whitcomb Middle School competed at Walsh Middle School in Framingham on Dec. 21. The competition, which featured 24 teams, was challenging, but all of our teams' robots rose to the occasion.

By the end of the day, every Whitcomb team made it to the elimination rounds, with Cap'n's Crew advancing to the quarterfinals, demonstrating their hard work and skill. In the final standings, King Krafters finished in 19th place, followed closely by Metal Nerds in 20th and Tech Dragons in 21st.

The excitement doesn't end here! Mark your calendars for Jan. 18, when our teams will return to Walsh Middle School for another competition. We invite everyone to come out and support our young engineers. Let's show them our Panther pride!

As we prepare to resume classes and begin a new year, it’s a great time to look back on the amazing journey we've had together. Last year was packed with unforgettable moments and milestones across our district. Before we jump into the exciting events and plans coming our way, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and check out some fun highlights that brought our community closer.

All of our achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of everyone in our district. We’ve shared some incredible memories, and we can’t wait to see what adventures and opportunities 2026 has in store for us!

As the year comes to a close, we want to express our gratitude to our faculty and staff who make our district such a special place. We would like to especially recognize Marlborough High School's retiring head custodian, Jimmy O'Coin, who has been with the district since 1991.

On Dec. 23, the last day students were in the building before winter break, we held a send-off for Jimmy, whose last day is Dec. 31. After 34 years of dedicated service, we are all thrilled for him, but he will be greatly missed at MHS and throughout our district.

Congratulations and happy retirement!

The annual Voices ReChoired winter concert has once again demonstrated the power of community and the incredible talent within our schools.

Under the direction of Caleb Whelden, Marlborough High School students delivered an outstanding performance on Thursday, showcasing their musical abilities. In addition to a bake sale and a 50/50 raffle, the event featured performances from guest groups, including Whitcomb Middle School's Fermata Nowhere and Chelmsford's The Thursdays. A special cameo was made by Voices ReChoired alumni who joined current members on stage for their final rendition.

These events are vital for nurturing artistic expression, as seen from our new members to alumni, and building connections within our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this concert a resounding success!
