New Marlborough Public Schools director of finance and operations selected

Marlborough, MASS. — At the Jan. 13 meeting of the Marlborough School Committee, members unanimously voted to appoint Mohammed Siddiqui as the new director of finance and operations for Marlborough Public Schools.

Siddiqui brings over 10 years of experience in school district finance, most recently serving as a senior financial analyst for Worcester Public Schools. He has established a strong track record in budget planning and operational optimization by integrating economic and technological strategies. Additionally, Siddiqui is a firm believer in fostering a positive work environment.

As the head of the finance department, Siddiqui will oversee all financial operations and guide capital improvement projects and operational procedures, such as transportation, to support continued growth across the district community.

"It was clear from our conversations that Mohammed has a deep understanding of financial planning, a commitment to public education and experience aligning school district budgets to directly support the district's strategic plan. He brings years of experience, which will support innovation and facilitate our operational procedures,” said Superintendent Dr. Jason DeFalco. “I am eager to work with him and enhance our financial and operational strategies.”

Mr. Siddiqui expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Marlborough Public Schools clearly values collaboration, accountability and a shared commitment to student success. I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to work in such a district. I extend my sincere appreciation to the selection committee and district leadership for their confidence and trust in me. I look forward to collaborating closely with educators, staff, families and community partners to ensure responsible resource management. Together, we will support the district’s goals through clear, transparent and sustainable financial and operational practices that serve the best interests of all students.”

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting and Finance, from Worcester State College and resides in Worcester with his wife and three children. Siddiqui will officially join Marlborough Public Schools on Jan. 20.
